Account Vault Terms of Use

Purpose#

These terms govern the purchase and use of Account Vault, the macOS application for locally and securely managing credentials, passwords, and account information, published by IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL and distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store.

Scope#

These terms apply to anyone who downloads, purchases, or uses Account Vault, whether an individual, entrepreneur, executive, employee, or developer. They supplement — without replacing or contradicting — the Mac App Store terms and Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (or any successor Apple licensing terms) that also apply to the app.

Acceptance of these terms#

By downloading, installing, or using Account Vault, you acknowledge that you have read these terms and agree to them. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.

Definitions#

• App: the Account Vault software as distributed on the Mac App Store.
• User / you: any person who has acquired a license to use the app under these terms.
• Vault: the set of credential entries and related information a user creates within the app.
• License: the personal, non-exclusive right to use the app granted under these terms.

Access requirements and macOS compatibility#

Using Account Vault requires a Mac running a version of macOS compatible with the app at the time of download, as indicated on its Mac App Store listing. You are responsible for confirming compatibility before purchasing.

License grant#

Subject to your compliance with these terms and payment of the applicable price, IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL grants you a personal or business, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Account Vault, within the scope and limits set by the Mac App Store rules and the applicable Apple licensing terms. This license grants you no ownership interest in the app.

Purchase, pricing, billing, and refunds#

Account Vault is offered as a one-time purchase, with no subscription and no in-app purchases. Purchase, billing, collection of applicable taxes, and the handling of refund requests are managed entirely by Apple under the Mac App Store terms. IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL does not itself collect or refund the app's price and cannot substitute for Apple in these matters — refund requests should be directed to Apple.

Product features#

Account Vault lets you create, view, edit, and delete credential entries; save account names, usernames, passwords, URLs, and notes; create your own categories, providers, and environments; search and filter saved entries; generate passwords; copy selected values to the clipboard; configure automatic clipboard clearing; run a local security audit; keep an encrypted history of changes; create and restore encrypted backups; and import or export data in CSV format; as well as configure language, appearance, lock delay, and clipboard-clearing delay. These features may change from one version of the app to the next.

No online account, no synchronization#

Account Vault does not require creating an IMEDIATIS account. In this version, there is no remote user account, no Account Vault server, and no synchronization of any kind — not by IMEDIATIS, and not through Apple's iCloud or CloudKit services. All vault data stays stored exclusively on your Mac.

Your obligations#

You agree to use Account Vault as intended, in accordance with these terms and applicable law. You are solely responsible for how you use the app and for the information you store in it.

Securing your Mac and access#

You are responsible for the general security of your Mac, including keeping macOS up to date and protecting your macOS user account, password, and, where applicable, Touch ID biometric data. Account Vault relies on these Apple-provided mechanisms to protect access to the vault; IMEDIATIS has no control over the security of the Mac itself.

Accuracy and lawfulness of stored content#

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness, and relevance of the information you store in your vault. IMEDIATIS has no access to any vault content and therefore cannot verify, moderate, or vouch for its accuracy.

Prohibition on unlawful use#

You agree not to use Account Vault to store, organize, or handle credentials or data obtained unlawfully, and not to use it to facilitate unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data belonging to others.

Backups and continuity#

Account Vault lets you create encrypted backups of your vault on request, saved to a location you choose. The app does not perform any automatic remote backup. It is your responsibility to create and keep usable encrypted backups, particularly before reinstalling the app, applying a major update, or moving to a new Mac.

Clipboard risks#

You acknowledge that copying a value to the macOS general clipboard temporarily exposes that value to any other application running on the Mac, until it is cleared. Configuring an automatic clearing delay reduces this risk but does not eliminate it.

Risks of unencrypted CSV exports#

You acknowledge that a CSV export produces a plain, unencrypted file readable by any compatible software. You are solely responsible for storing, protecting, transferring, and deleting that file, and for any consequences of it being accessed by an unauthorized party.

Key loss, backup loss, and no recovery by IMEDIATIS#

IMEDIATIS does not hold, know, or have any way to recover either the vault's encryption key or the password protecting a backup you create. If the key stored in the macOS Keychain is lost, if a backup password is lost, if data is irreversibly corrupted, if the app is deleted without a usable backup, or if your Mac is lost without a usable backup, IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL cannot restore the lost credentials or information. You alone bear the consequences of this inability to recover.

Updates, fixes, and product evolution#

IMEDIATIS may release updates to Account Vault, including to maintain compatibility with new macOS versions, fix issues, or evolve its features. IMEDIATIS does not guarantee indefinite compatibility with every future version of macOS, nor that every feature will remain unchanged in future versions. Any material change introducing an online service or synchronization would be announced in advance and would trigger a prior revision of these terms and the applicable privacy policy.

Availability and support#

IMEDIATIS uses reasonable efforts to keep Account Vault working properly, without guaranteeing uninterrupted availability or the complete absence of defects. A support channel is available through our contact form (category "Product support", with Account Vault preselected), with no guaranteed response time. This support is handled directly by IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL, with no external provider.

Intellectual property#

Account Vault, its source code, interface, graphical elements, trademarks, and name remain the exclusive property of IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL or its licensors. These terms grant you no rights in IMEDIATIS's trademarks, interfaces, visual elements, or other intellectual property beyond the personal license described above.

Apple software and components#

Account Vault relies on frameworks and components provided by Apple, including SwiftData, CryptoKit, CommonCrypto, and LocalAuthentication. Use of those components remains subject to Apple's own applicable terms, independently of these terms.

Usage restrictions#

Except as required by mandatory law, you may not reproduce, distribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or transfer the app outside authorized Mac App Store channels; circumvent or attempt to circumvent the app's protection, licensing, or security mechanisms; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law; or take any action that compromises the security of the app or of IMEDIATIS's systems.

Your responsibility#

You remain solely responsible for the data you store in Account Vault, for keeping usable encrypted backups, for remembering and safeguarding your backup passwords, and for how you use the export functionality. Account Vault is a management tool and does not replace your own internal security policies, any professional obligations you may have, or advice from a qualified information-security specialist.

Warranties and disclaimers#

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Account Vault is provided "as is," without warranty of uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, fitness for a particular purpose, or permanent compatibility with any given hardware or software configuration. IMEDIATIS does not warrant recovery of lost passwords or data, absolute security, the complete absence of bugs, automatic remote backup of your data, or any ability for IMEDIATIS to intervene on the contents of your local vault, which remains beyond IMEDIATIS's reach.

Limitation of liability#

To the extent permitted by applicable law, IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL's liability under these terms is limited to direct, reasonably foreseeable damages resulting from a demonstrated failure by IMEDIATIS to meet its own obligations. IMEDIATIS is not liable for data loss resulting from the loss, absence, or non-use of an encrypted backup you failed to create or keep, disclosure of a value you copied to the clipboard, disclosure of a CSV export file you left unprotected, or any event beyond IMEDIATIS's reasonable control, including malfunction of hardware, the operating system, or Apple's own services.

Third-party services and the Mac App Store#

Access to Account Vault depends on the Mac App Store and related Apple services, over which IMEDIATIS has no control. Any unavailability, change, or interruption of those services by Apple is outside IMEDIATIS's responsibility.

Termination#

You may stop using Account Vault and uninstall it at any time. IMEDIATIS may suspend or terminate your right to use the app in the event of a serious breach of these terms, within the limits allowed by the Mac App Store rules and applicable law. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete any backups or exports you created outside the app.

Governing law and disputes#

The default governing law for IMEDIATIS products is the law of the Republic of Cameroon. These terms are therefore governed by Cameroonian law.

The competent courts of Douala, Cameroon, are the contractual forum of reference for any dispute over the interpretation or performance of these terms, failing amicable resolution, subject to any mandatory provisions of applicable law — in particular consumer-protection rules that cannot legally be waived and that may entitle a consumer user to bring proceedings before another competent court.

Changes to these terms#

IMEDIATIS may amend these terms, including to reflect changes to the product, updates to Mac App Store rules, or regulatory developments. Any material change will result in a new version, published with an updated revision date.
