Purpose
This policy describes how information is handled when you use Music2Status, the iOS and Android application published and operated by IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL that lets you pick a clip from a song already on your phone, pair it with synchronized lyrics, and export it as a video (for example, for a WhatsApp Status) or as audio (for example, for a message). Where relevant, it supplements the IMEDIATIS general privacy policy without replacing it.
Music2Status works locally: the app relies on no user account and no IMEDIATIS server. This policy reflects how the product actually works and does not describe any feature that does not exist in version 1.0 of the product.
Scope
This policy applies to anyone using Music2Status downloaded from Apple's App Store or the Google Play Store. It does not apply to processing carried out independently by Apple, Google, LRCLIB or WhatsApp as part of their own services, nor to other IMEDIATIS products.
Definitions
- Application: the Music2Status software, in the versions distributed on the App Store and the Google Play Store.
- User: anyone installing or using the application on an iOS or Android device.
- Source audio file: the audio file on the device that the user chooses to open in the application.
- Clip: the video (with a waveform and, where applicable, lyrics) or the audio file generated by the application from a portion of the source audio file.
- My clips: the area of the application where exported clips are kept, in the application's own storage on the device.
- In-app purchase: the single, non-renewing purchase offered in the application to remove the watermark from exported videos and unlock a longer selection length.
Controller
IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL, whose details are set out in the legal notice, publishes and operates Music2Status. With regard to audio files and clips, IMEDIATIS never acts as a recipient or custodian: this content stays on the user's device and is never sent to IMEDIATIS by the application.
What the application does not do
Music2Status has no user account, no IMEDIATIS server, no usage analytics tool, no crash reporting tool and no advertising tracker, on either iOS or Android. IMEDIATIS does not sell users' information and does not share it with any third party for commercial purposes.
Data processed locally on the device
In normal use, Music2Status processes the following only on the user's device:
- the source audio file chosen by the user, which is never sent to IMEDIATIS;
- exported clips, kept in "My clips", in the application's storage area;
- the in-app purchase status (watermark removed or not), stored locally.
This information is processed solely to make the application work: playing and selecting the clip, displaying lyrics, generating the video or audio, keeping clips, and applying the features unlocked by the in-app purchase. IMEDIATIS has no access to it.
Data sent to third-party services
Some information is sent to third-party services, only when the user triggers the corresponding action:
- Lyrics search: the song title and, if provided, the artist name are sent to LRCLIB, a free community database, to look up synchronized lyrics. As with any request over the Internet, LRCLIB also receives the device's IP address. No other information is sent. This use is subject to LRCLIB's own terms and practices.
- In-app purchase: the purchase is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their own policies. IMEDIATIS does not receive or store any payment information; the application only receives confirmation that the purchase was completed. To process purchases, the application uses StoreKit (iOS) and the Google Play Billing library (Android). These libraries bundle internal technical utilities provided by Google (for example, firebase-encoders) that are unrelated to Firebase Analytics or any tracking tool: they do not collect or transmit usage data.
- Photo library: with the user's permission, the exported video is saved to an album in the device's photo library so it can be found and shared again. This permission is optional: if it is denied, the clip remains available in "My clips".
- Sharing: when the user shares a clip (for example, as a WhatsApp Status or in a message), they send it through the system share sheet to the app of their choice. The shared content is then governed by that app's privacy policy (for example, WhatsApp's), not by this policy.
Purposes
Local data is processed solely to provide the application's features: selecting a clip, searching for and displaying synchronized lyrics, exporting as video or audio, keeping clips, saving to the photo library, and applying the in-app purchase.
Information voluntarily provided in a support request is used by IMEDIATIS to respond to the user and resolve the reported issue, and for those purposes only.
Legal basis
IMEDIATIS does not process audio files or clips, which remain on the user's device. Transmissions to LRCLIB, Apple or Google, and saving to the photo library, only take place at the user's initiative, to perform the function they requested.
For information provided in a support request, the applicable legal basis depends on the nature of the request and may rest, as the case may be, on IMEDIATIS's legitimate interest in supporting its products, compliance with applicable legal obligations, or the user's consent when they spontaneously provide information.
This policy takes into account applicable Cameroonian law, in particular Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 on the protection of personal data, to the extent of the processing IMEDIATIS actually carries out.
Retention and deletion
Local data is kept on the device for as long as the user does not delete it or uninstall the application.
The application's "Account" screen offers a "Delete my data" button, which immediately and permanently erases the clips in "My clips" and the in-app purchase status stored on the device. Videos already saved to the photo library are not affected: they are managed from the device's photo library. An in-app purchase already made can still be recovered with the "Restore" function, because it is tied to the user's Apple or Google account, independently of this deletion.
Since IMEDIATIS does not hold local data, it cannot view, modify or delete it remotely. Information sent to IMEDIATIS in a support request is kept separately, for as long as needed to handle the request and to comply with applicable legal obligations.
Sharing and recipients
Apart from the user-triggered transmissions described above (LRCLIB for lyrics, Apple or Google for the in-app purchase, the chosen app for sharing), the application does not send any information to a third party. Music2Status support is provided directly by IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL, without any external provider. If a provider or technical subcontractor were introduced, this policy would be updated before any such change takes effect.
International transfers
IMEDIATIS does not receive audio files or clips and therefore does not transfer them. Support requests are handled directly by IMEDIATIS TECHLAB SARL, in Cameroon. Third-party services used at the user's initiative (LRCLIB, Apple, Google, WhatsApp) may process information on infrastructure located outside Cameroon, under their own policies and safeguards.
User rights
For local data, the user has direct and permanent control: they can view and delete their clips at any time, and erase all their data with "Delete my data", without having to contact IMEDIATIS.
For information IMEDIATIS actually holds (for example, in connection with a support request), users may exercise the rights available under applicable law by contacting IMEDIATIS through our contact form (category "Data privacy").
Minors
Music2Status is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all audiences. However, the application is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data about children. The in-app purchase is subject to the parental controls offered by Apple and Google.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the product. Any substantial change will result in a new version, published with an updated date, and will be announced in the application.
The absence of data collection described in this policy reflects the architecture of the current version and must be verified with every new release. If a future version were to introduce a user account, a server, a usage analytics tool, a crash reporting tool, advertising, or any other form of data collection by IMEDIATIS or by a third-party component, this policy, the App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures and, where applicable, the terms of use would be revised before that feature is made available.

Questions about this policy can be sent through our contact form, category "Data privacy" or "Product support" (Music2Status preselected).
